About the Program
The Platinum Aquatics Learn to Swim program helps children become confident, safe, and happy in the water. Our certified instructors focus on water safety first, then build stroke technique step-by-step in a fun, encouraging environment.

Program Highlights

Ages: 4–12 years

Lesson Length: 30 minutes, 3 to 4 times per week for two weeks

Location: James W. Hardin Swim Center, Temple High School Campus

Season: Seasonal sessions throughout the year

Pathway: Graduates may advance to PLAT pre-competitive and competitive swim groups

Choose Any Available Time
Swimmers may register for any lesson time regardless of level. Our coaches will work with each swimmer at their current skill level within the assigned class.
Lesson Pathways
We offer two lesson progression tracks:
Basic Lessons (3 Levels)
For swimmers learning with in-water assistance, focusing on water safety, comfort, floating, kicking, and rolling over.

Beginner – Introduction to water safety, assisted floats, kicks, and breathing skills.

Intermediate – Independent floating and gliding, basic arm movements, and back floating.

Advanced – Strong independent swimming on front and back, basic stroke coordination, and readiness for Stroke Lessons.
Stroke Lessons (4 Levels)
For swimmers who have completed Basic Lesson exit skills and are developing endurance and technique in Freestyle and Backstroke.

Practice Basics – Review of advanced basic skills, building stamina for longer swims.

Freestyle Stroke Progression – Body position, arm mechanics, breathing, and turns.

Backstroke Stroke Progression – Arm movement, body rotation, streamline, and finishes.

Dives & Flip Turns – Introduction to competitive starts and turns, preparing swimmers for pre-competitive programs.
Next Steps
- Instructors will recommend swimmers for participation in our Water Buddies, pre-competitive, program.
